Of course there much to take away from Chapter 2 that advises on some things to consider before taking a next step. However, there's one word that stands out to me in this chapter, and that is "deligence". Just last night, I read aloud a report written last school year regarding my son, Deron. After hearing me read, "He is very deligent and challenges himself to do the very best in alll areas", Deron immediately went for the dictionary.
The first thing we discovered about deligence, is that it is spelled "diligence". My son and I both assumed it was spelled with an e, and so did the teacher who wrote it.
Diligence is defined as a working hard and being diligent, which is hard-working and industrious.
I can relate to Bishop T.D. Jakes' philosophy of asking lots of questions as he reveals in on page 15 of the Before You Do book. It's important to know what the questions are in order to know the answers that will greatly influence your decision.
Here's one account of my application of asking many question. Its good for basic understanding of the matter at hand. It may not be a good idea to not welcome the questions of a decision maker. Bishop Jakes states, "I believe good leaders anticipate tough questions". This is a good principle that should be applied to the 2008 Elections.
On another note, chapter 2 brings forth the issue of finance. It talks about the how couples should converse about money before taking that next step of walking down the aisle.
