Chapter two of the Before You Do: Making Great Decisions That You Wont Regret book by T. D. Jakes deals with accepting responsibility instead of simply blaming others.
And so the book says that you should step up and take responsibility,
"by sitting down and reviewing your list, praying--ask God to give you the strength to be the best person you can be--and asking for forgiveness on the days you slip back."
If I may add to this, part of taken responsibility is to be real with yourself and others. Why is it that people will not fess up to what they've have done out of fear?
I am quick to say, "yes I did it, and this is why", or something like "I realize what I've done, lets try to make it better". I love to accept blame especially when I'm positive that it wasn't wrong. In my eyes, I'm actually accepting credit disguised as blame!
The book goes on to talk about the blame game, blaming yourself, and blaming others. Bishop Jakes even explains what he's defined as "The Blame Commandment".
